The Koenitzer Aquatic Center, named for John and Joyce Koenitzer ’74, is 25 yards by 40 yards. It features 10 deep-water lanes for competition and an additional six lanes for warm-up and cool-down. A separate whirlpool is available for swimmers.

The Koenitzer Aquatic Center is home to swim practices and meets and also serves as the location for swim lessons, which are open to the community. Carthage classes, such as Water Aerobics, are also offered in the center. Open pool hours give the Carthage community the opportunity to take a dip.

Carthage offers a training program for masters swimmers and triathletes. The coached workouts focus on drills as well as distance and speed.

The Master’s Swim Team is broken into two ability groups and gears the workouts to the abilities of the group. One group, the “Sharks,” is your very competent, perhaps ex-college swimmers. The other group, the “minnows,” are typically triathletes who are not gifted swimmers, and trying to build endurance and speed for triathlons. Every ability is welcome!
