Visitor Information
The N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center (known on campus as “The TARC”) is a first-class fitness facility for the Carthage community. The TARC is located on the west side of Campus Drive, just north of the Campbell Student Union.

- Monday-Thursday: 6 a.m.-11 p.m.
- Friday: 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
- Summer hours: Monday-Sunday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Who can use the TARC?
Students, faculty, and staff
Recreational spaces within the TARC (the Field House and Semler Fitness Center) are available for use by all Carthage students, faculty, and staff when not in use by Carthage sports teams. Athletic spaces, including Art Keller Field, Tarble Arena, the Koenitzer Aquatic Center, and Smeds Tennis Center, are available for use by all current Carthage athletes.
Alumni and Guests
Carthage alumni are invited to use the Semler Fitness Center, the rock climbing wall, and the Koenitzer Aquatic Center and Haribo Pool when available and staffed. Alumni can also use the Field House when it’s not in use by Carthage Athletics.
Conference Services
Businesses and organizations often bring their meetings and conferences to Carthage. To learn more about holding your next event at the TARC, visit Conferences Services
Parking
There are two parking lots near the TARC: South Upper Parking Lot and South Lower Parking Lot. Visitor spots are available. See campus map
