Why did you choose Carthage?
“Growing up in Kenosha, I’ve always admired Carthage. I especially love the view of the lake!”
Why did you choose to live on campus instead of commute from home?
“I wanted to experience college and be independent, but also be able to go home when I needed support from my parents.”
Why should other Kenosha residents consider Carthage?
“Carthage is its own little community. While it is located in Kenosha, it still feels separate. Carthage has its own culture filled with fun opportunities on campus.”
What is your favorite part about being so close to home?
“I really enjoy still having the support of my parents and being able to see my family as often as I would like. I also enjoy that the connections I’ve established in my hometown are still thriving. For example, I was able to keep my part-time job from high school when I first started here at Carthage.”
What is the biggest surprise you’ve experienced as a Kenoshan at Carthage?
“I would definitely say that I have met so many people here who are not from Kenosha, so it feels like I’m not even in Kenosha.”
Do you feel included in the school community? What has Carthage done to make you feel included?
“Carthage has many clubs and organizations, so that is one way that I have personally integrated myself into the campus community.”
Advice to potential Kenosha residents coming to Carthage?
“My advice would be to make sure that you enjoy campus for what it is. You’ll be tempted to leave campus and go stay home a lot, but just remember that you pay to stay on campus so you should challenge yourself to get the most out of it.”
Many Kenosha students worry about coming to Carthage because they want to feel like they’re living away from home. What would you say to them?
“Like I mentioned before, so many students here aren’t from Kenosha. For example, the majority of our students come from Illinois, so you’ll meet tons of new people during your time attending Carthage. I think the best way to make sure that you’ll feel away from home is by living on campus.”
Do you feel that you are getting the full college experience?
“Yes. If there were some bucket list where I could check off my college experiences, I am positive that I would be able to check 99.9% of those boxes.”
Favorite spot in Kenosha?
“I really love Kaiser’s! Their pizza is fantastic.”
