Why did you choose Carthage?
“I chose Carthage because it had everything I wanted in a college. It’s small but well-connected with experienced professors in a community I already knew was great.”
Did you always plan to come to Carthage?
“I didn’t seriously consider Carthage as an option until the middle of my senior year. I’d actually already applied and been accepted, but was focused on finding other schools I liked. I realized that none of the other colleges I’d toured and applied for matched Carthage in class sizes, career outcomes, financial aid, etc.”
Why did you choose to live on campus instead of commute from home?
“I chose to live on campus in order to be more invested in the community. Living at home is economical, but I know I would have missed a lot of opportunities to connect with people.”
What is your favorite part about being so close to home?
“My dad brings me groceries and things I want from home on the weekends. Also, ‘traveling’ home for breaks and holidays is super convenient.”
Advice to potential Kenosha residents coming to Carthage?
“Especially if you don’t live on campus, get involved. Carthage can offer you the full college experience as long as you make the effort to have it.”
Many Kenosha students worry about coming to Carthage because they want to feel like they’re living away from home. What would you say to them?
“Don’t go home. If you lived three hours away, you wouldn’t be able to go home every weekend to do your laundry, and you shouldn’t do that here either. Treat campus like your home and you’ll feel like you’ve actually moved out.”
Favorite spot in Kenosha?
“Common Grounds coffee shop.”
