WSGC Student Spotlight: Justin McElderry

October 05, 2020

Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Justin McElderry! Justin is the recipient of a WSGC Undergraduate Scholarship and is currently a senior studying Mechanical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Justin gained an interest in physics, aerospace, and aeronautics from a young age and became a mechanical engineering student to work on space exploration by integrating mechanical aspects into rocketry and aerospace. Justin has been involved with WSGC for the last two and a half years, has held two NASA internships at the Marshall Space Flight Center, and has competed in the NASA Lunabotics Competition at MSOE.

In the future, Justin will be seeking more experience with rockets through internships and classes related to propulsion and fluids. After graduating from MSOE, Justin wants to continue his education by pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. While continuing his education, he also plans on pursuing more research through NASA and plans to dedicate his career to design and analysis of space-flight systems.
