WSGC Student Spotlight: Laurel Lindemann

May 04, 2022

Congratulations to this week’s #WSGCStudentSpotlight, Laurel Lindemann! Laurel is the recipient of a Women in Aviation Scholarship and is currently a Senior studying Professional Pilot Training at Fox Valley Technical College.

Laurel Lindemann is from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 2020. Laurel was always fascinated with air and space growing up and knew she wanted to be involved in aeronautics for her career. Each summer she would go with her brother to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The summer before her senior year, Laurel got a job working security at EAA which pointed her in the right direction for her career. While working at EAA, she found out Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh offered an Aeronautics- Pilot Training Associate Degree program. Determined to follow her dream, she applied and was accepted into the program, and started in August 2020. Since then, Laurel has earned her private pilot license and is at the end of her instrument rating training. After that, she will continue to work towards earning her commercial single engine and multi-engine certificate then become a CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) to teach others how to fly and become pilots. With her future in sight, Laurel’s goal is to become a Medevac pilot to fly patients and organs nationwide. Laurel also has always been interested in the medical field and inspired by her mother who is a nurse, with that in mind she believes that one day she could combine her two passions into one to help people across the nation. Laurel has also stayed in touch with her high school and has participated and encouraged other students to pursue their dreams of becoming a pilot by sharing her story and inspiring others to do the same.

Congratulations Laurel, and best of luck to you in your future!
