“No Mother Should Suffer Arbitrary Detention”

Please join the Women’s and Gender Studies and Niagara Foundation in a panel discussion on the systematic detentions and massive women’s rights violations in Turkey. Turkish government has systematically been detaining women on coup charges either when they are pregnant or shortly after giving birth. Since July 2016, 17,000 women and 668 babies have been sent to jail.

Panelists are Ellen Hauser, director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Carthage and an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies; Rana Yurtsever, Associate Director of Niagara Foundation; and Ayse Nur, Attorney at Law.

This event is sponsored by Women and Gender Studies, Religion Department, Political Science Department, and Asian Studies.
