Time: 7:30pm CDT March 16
Location: A. F. Siebert Chapel
Join us at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 in the A. F. Siebert Chapel for the Misa Tango Project, as part of the Chamber Music Series.
The concert will feature the Master Singers of Milwaukee, led by Carthage’s own Professor Eduardo García-Novelli, in a performance of the “Misa Tango,” composed by Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri. The piece reimagines the traditional mass setting within the context of traditional Argentinian tango style. “Misa Tango” features choir, piano, strings, and the bandoneón, a traditional tango instrument originating from Germany.
Palmeri has written numerous other choral and instrumental works and operas, including, “Tango del Bicentenario,” “Canto de la lejanía,” “Oratorio de Navidad,” and many more. Carthage is honored to welcome composer Martín Palmeri to play piano at the event.
With the delicate musicality of Prof. García-Novelli and the Master Singers, and Argentinian flavor of Palmeri’s epic work, the Misa Tango Project performance is a fresh take on age-old tradition.
This concert is free and open to the public, however tickets are required for all ages. Please visit www.carthage.edu/tickets 24/7 or call the Fine Arts Box Office 262-551-6661 Tuesday to Friday, noon to 5 p.m.
