Time: 7:00pm CST February 29
Location: A. F. Siebert Chapel
Join us at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, in A. F. Siebert Chapel for the annual Lakeside Band Festival, featuring Carthage bands and instrumentalists from local schools.
This year’s Lakeside Band Festival will be conducted by Professor James Ripley, director of instrumental music activities at Carthage.
Area high school students will join with the Carthage bands for the unique opportunity of rehearsing and performing with a collegiate ensemble. The day-long event is also an opportunity for prospective Carthage students to audition for a music scholarship and meet with the instrumental studio faculty.
Music selections for this year’s Festival will feature Polish composers Krystoph Penderecki, Witold Lutoslaski, and Wanda Landowska.
Our guest conductor with the Wind Orchestra will be alumna Madeline Weirick ’14. Ms. Weirick is the band director at Trevor-Wilmot School, and one of the music educators being recognized this year as part of the 150 Years of Carthage Women Celebration.
Lakeside Band Festival is free and open to the public.
