Location: H. F. Johnson Recital Hall
The Carthage Music Theatre Workshop presents “The Last Five Years,” with book, music, and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Rogelio A. Castro ’22 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, Jan. 29, in the Recital Hall.
Jan. 27-29 | 7:30 p.m.
“The Last Five Years” is the story of Cathy Hiatt and Jamie Wellerstein, two imperfect people, trying to make sense of their failed marriage. Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a successful writer, investigate questions, doubts, and insecurities within themselves and about each other. The story unfolds from two different timelines simultaneously. Told from Jamie’s perspective chronologically, beginning just after the couple first meets, while Cathy’s story is chronicled beginning with the end of the marriage and working backward. “The Last Five Years” heartbreakingly and richly explores the complexities of falling in and out of love, and how sometimes “goodbye” is not a choice, but a necessity.
