Public Relations Student Society of America Meeting

Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm CDT October 18

Location: Lentz Hall (Room 301)

Come hang out with members of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) over lunch and learn more about our student organization from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, in room 301 of Lentz Hall.

The meeting includes a short introduction to our school’s chapter, a description of what PRSSA is, and a talk with guest speaker Kris Kochman — event planner for the City of Kenosha.

For the past eight years, Ms. Kochman has worked for the City of Kenosha and the mayor’s office. Not only has she worked in public relations, but she has also worked on event planning for some of the city’s major events like parades and festivals. She will speak to us about being an event planner and about having a career in the public relations field.

PRSSA is a national organization with chapters all over the United States, including Carthage! PRSSA is not just for public relations majors and minors; those in communications, marketing, business, journalism, social media analytics, and graphic design can benefit as well. The purpose of the chapter is to give students a professional organization that allows them to practice the theories and functions of public relations education, network with public relations professionals in Chicago and Milwaukee, and hear presentations from professional practitioners.
