As part of its residency with the American Dance Legacy Initiative (ADLI), the Carthage Theatre Department will host a special master class with ADLI master teacher and repertory company member Kerry Gallagher on Saturday, Oct. 19. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in TARC 2235.

The master class will introduce students to this year’s featured choreographer, Robert Battle, through movement principles, motifs, and other themes present in his work. The class will be rooted in the early Modern technique lineages of Martha Graham and Paul Taylor as well as other influences utilized to create the unique works of the Battleworks Dance Company.  Class exercises will reflect these styles and may also feature repertory threads from the Battle Etude, which will be presented in the Theatre Department’s dance production Kinesthetic Chitchat, Nov. 15-17.

This class is recommended for students who have previous dance experience.  To register for this class, please use this google form link.
