Dr. Virginia L. Emery, post-doctoral fellow in Western Heritage at Carthage, will give the first Hannibal Lecture of the year on Monday, Sept. 26. She will give a talk titled “Constructing Narrative: Tales of Ancient Egypt” at 4:15 p.m. in Niemann Media Theater.

She will share and discuss stories written by ancient Egyptians millennia before Homer’s “Iliad.” The talk will consider how these stories have been used to reconstruct a narrative of ancient Egyptian life and culture centuries later.

This lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
