Robert Fitton from Luther College will visit campus on Monday, Sept. 26, to present in the Natural Sciences Colloquium Series.

His seminar begins at 4 p.m. in Straz 163 and is titled “Form and Function of Teaching Undergraduate Light and Electron Microscopy.”

A brief history of microscopy will be presented followed by discussion on the theory and technical aspects of light microscopy. Featured will be a recent student project that uses confocal and transmission electron microscopy to image changes in microtubule structure upon exposure to ethanol in cultured cells, and how digital image analysis can be used to evaluate those changes.
