Lecture on pornography and Constitution scheduled Dec. 4
University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Donald Downs is scheduled to present the talk at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Niemann Media Theatre. Both historically and analytically, he will explore the treatment of pornography under the U.S. Constitution.
Prof. Downs is the Alexander Meiklejohn Professor of Political Science, Law, and Journalism, and the Glenn B. and Cleone Orr Hawkins Professor of Political Science. He is a noted scholar and prize-winning author who has dealt with issues including freedom of speech, the history of campus political movements, and the role of ROTC in the university.
The event is free and open to the entire Carthage community.
