Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Feiss will speak about the state of juvenile justice in Wisconsin from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 in Jockey Room B in the Todd Wehr Center.

Judge Feiss is one of a number of local judges who has been closely following inquires into an ongoing federal investigation of Lincoln Hills Juvenile Correctional Center. The Department of Justice is investigating allegations of officer abuse and misconduct and these allegations have prompted some Wisconsin judges to refuse to send juvenile offenders to this institution.

Judge Feiss currently handles cases in Milwaukee County involving juveniles accused of delinquent acts, children in need of protection services, and juvenile guardianships cases. He will discuss the state of juvenile justice in Wisconsin and what local communities and the state are doing to make sure the juvenile offenders are guarded from abuse and receive the appropriate oversight and rehabilitation services.

This program is sponsored by the Sociology Department and the Criminal Justice Program at Carthage College and is open to all students and faculty.
