LIS offers two great classroom response resources to help encourage classroom participation.

Poll Everywhere and iClickers allow students to answer questions and polls with a mere click of a button. The uses of these tools are endless. Both of these systems allow for active participation by all students, and provide immediate feedback to the instructor about any confusion about the materials being presented. They can be instrumental in turning a passive lecture into an interactive discussion. These tools help support a more effective, more efficient, and more engaging educational experience for students and faculty.

iClicker is the more traditional tool, using remote controls to submit answers via infrared frequencies. LIS has individual clickers that you can check out for classes or even study sessions. Each individual clicker has its unique signal that can be used to designate responses for a particular student or groups of students.

Poll Everywhere is based on the same concept as the iClickers, except instead of the remote clickers, students can submit their answers by using devices they already own including smartphones, tablets, computers, and even “dumb” phones through text messaging. Poll Everywhere also has some great added features including reports that help correlate people’s answers across many polls. It will even help grade responses.
