Native American Heritage Month Celebration through Nov. 18
Multicultural Affairs will host three events in celebration of Native American Heritage month in November. All events will be held at 7 p.m. in Campbell Student Union Auditorium.
Thursday, Nov. 7
“America’s Native Prisoners of War”
View Aaron Huey’s Ted Talk, followed with a dialogue over the themes.
Monday, Nov. 11
Discussion on Mascots
Presentation will examine the use of Native American and Indian mascots in today’s professional teams and in many schools. Apple cider and cornbread will be offered as refreshments.
Monday, Nov. 18
“Grab”
“Grab” is a documentary about a little-documented Laguna Pueblo celebration where water and food items are thrown from the rooftops in symbolizing the intersection of traditional native and contemporary western cultures. Apple cider and cornbread will be offered as refreshments to participants.
