On Friday, Scott Sikorsky was named the 2016-2017 Distinguished Adult Learner at the Adult Undergraduate Studies Honors Celebration.

The Distinguished Adult Learner Award is given to a graduating senior in the 7-week or part-time semester program with a 3.6 cumulative GPA or above. The student must have earned at least 40 graded credits at Carthage, as well as at least 75% of their Carthage credits through the Adult Undergraduate Studies program.

Scott has been taking classes at Carthage since 2012 while also working full time as a project manager for Town & Country Glass. This past winter, he volunteered his time as a judge for the Financial Challenge Bowl, a financial competition held for local high school students. He was also a teammate on Carthage’s Chartered Financial Analysts team that conducted an analysis of the public corporation A.O. Smith.

To quote from his faculty reference, “I can’t think of anyone who is more deserving of this award than Scott. He truly made the classes stronger by being in them. Scott is a person of high integrity and moral character who is also fun to be around…and he deserves recognition for being a highly distinguished adult learner.”

Later this month, he will graduate with honors with a degree in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Mathematics. He will begin work as an agent for Modern Woodmen of America after graduation.
