Our nursing program’s first cohort of students, the graduating class of 2019, will be recognized at the inaugural White Coat Ceremony this Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Student Union auditorium. Refreshments will be served beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Though these ceremonies are fairly common for medical schools, they are relatively new rituals for nursing. We’ve decided to begin the meaningful tradition as well. The White Coat Ceremony represents nursing students’ completion of their pre-clinical work and their transition to the intense clinical learning necessary to become a professional nurse. Students will receive their “white coats” from their professors in front of their family, friends, and significant others. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.
