I am pleased to provide an update regarding the Task Force for Career and Professional Development. The task force has made good progress in its work to think expansively about how best to maximize every student’s experience at Carthage and position each student for a successful and meaningful life after graduation. We have held a number of meetings since May 2017, including a summer retreat, visited nine exemplar institutions, spoken with external experts, and drafted a framework for our final report.

An important component at this time is to engage with members of the Carthage community. To that end, we would like to invite all interested faculty, staff, and students to attend an upcoming forum to discuss the progress of the task force and offer feedback as we continue our work. Two sessions will be held this fall and additional sessions will be held in the spring.

More information about these events:

Session 2: Preliminary Reports and Findings

  • Wednesday, Dec. 13 — 4-5 p.m. in Niemann Media Theater (HL159)
    or
  • Thursday, Dec. 14 —noon-1 p.m. in Niemann Media Theater (HL159)

Looking ahead to task force action items in 2018:

  • February: The task force will complete and disseminate a written report
  • March and April: The task force will hold public discussion sessions to gain feedback.
  • May: The task force will submit a final set of recommendations to the President’s Executive Staff for consideration.

We look forward to your involvement. If you have any questions, please contact me at tkline@carthage.edu or Karen Howell at khowell@carthage.edu.
