Carthage Noyce scholars and professors receive award at Midwest Regional Robert Noyce Conference
Carthage students Leah Hall ’19, Ashley Bucolt ’18, Nathan Morris ’18, Sheila Franklin ’19, Professor Chris Blaine, and Professor Aaron Trautwein recently attended the Midwest Regional Noyce Conference on “Connecting STEM Learning To The Community” in St. Louis.
The entire cohort is part of the Carthage Noyce Scholarship program that prepares STEM majors to become secondary education teachers in high-need schools. At the conference, the group met with faculty and staff from other National Science Foundation supported Robert Noyce Scholarship programs in the Midwest area and discussed best practices for teaching and learning science and math. They also explored a variety of locations within St. Louis to examine how to incorporate community spaces, museums and city industries into future lesson plans.
The group was also the recipient of the “Best School Spirit Award” at the conference for their positive attitudes and enthusiasm throughout the event.
Congratulations!
