Libby Nelson ’17 headed for New York right after graduating in May, and she hasn’t wasted any time. Nelson, who created a self-designed dance major and was active in the theatre and music theatre programs at Carthage, will be in the ensemble of a developmental reading of the new musical “Love Affair” starring Broadway veterans Laura Osnes and Will Swenson.

The production is directed by Jeff Whiting, the director of the Open Jar Institute and a frequent collaborator with First Stage in Milwaukee. Read more about “Love Affair”

Nelson, a candidate for the Open Jar Institute summer program, auditioned for Jeff Whiting at Carthage. She was accepted into the Open Jar Residency program for emerging artists, and has been training and auditioning in New York as a member of the residency program.

While at Carthage, Libby was frequently featured as a dancer in our dance shows and main stage productions. She also was a choreographer for several dance shows and for the music theatre workshop production “Heathers.” Libby was actively involved in special workshops with the American Dance Legacy Institute initiatives on campus while under the leadership of Carthage dance director Stacy Pottinger.

Congratulations, Libby!
