Director of Athletics

December 23, 2017

Carthage College, home to one of the premier NCAA Division III athletic programs in the United States, seeks a dynamic Director of Athletics to build on our successful, resource-rich program. The successful candidate will bring to Carthage’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities exceptional leadership and management skills, competitive drive, and clear passion for the value of collegiate athletics in a student-athlete’s education.

Carthage fields 24 NCAA Division III varsity sports. Many of our teams compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), widely regarded as one of the most competitive Division III conferences in the country. The College flies 115 banners from 24 different sports earned in the last 25 years, signifying both conference championships and top-eight national finishes.

Carthage has invested more than $200 million in facilities in recent years with a substantial proportion of those funds devoted to renovating and building new athletic facilities. Recent projects include a 2017 renovation of Art Keller Field and the surrounding track and the 2013 reconstruction of Augie Schmidt Field (baseball). Other facilities include Tarble Arena, the N. E. Tarble Athletic, and Recreation Center, and Smeds Tennis Center. The College’s athletic endowment is approaching $3 million.
