Assistant professor of religion Fatih Harpci has been invited by the Southeast Wisconsin Project Coordinator of Peace Catalyst International (PCI) to be a member of this region’s Seek Peace of the City Project. He will attend Seek Peace in the City’s national meeting at Duke University April 9-11. During this meeting, academics and religious leaders from all over the country will discuss how to catalyze and equip a national network of Christians and Muslims to create safe, just, and vibrant cities in the United States. The PCI has received funding for this project from the Department of Homeland Security.

Professor Harpci has also been formally invited to attend the Third National Baptist-Muslim Dialogue Conference in Green Lake, Wisconsin, April 16-19. The Muslim sponsor for this conference is ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), which is the largest and oldest Muslim organization in the United States. In light of the shared history that has often included competition, distrust, and fear, the conference goal is to have Muslim and Baptist scholars and leaders gather together for conversation and relationship building.
