Life After Carthage equips Carthage students with skills and behaviors necessary for professional and personal success upon entering the professional world. Topics include all aspects of a professional job search, skills and strategies necessary for success as an employee, and knowledge bases necessary to create a healthy lifestyle. Emphasis will be placed upon designing individualized models of professional and personal success and creating plans to achieve them.

The class Life After Carthage will be taught using the city of Chicago as the textbook for learning. We will visit a variety of employers to learn more about the companies and careers available in Chicago. Externship opportunities will be available to students interested in spending a longer period of time with a specific company.

We will explore the cultural aspects of the city including visits to museums and performances. Tours of an apartment complex will help students learn how living expenses truly impact decisions about budgeting after college. Finally, students will complete service projects to explore the heart of the city’s diverse problems and organizations dedicated to solving these problems.

Students will live in Hostel International in the Loop. Students will complete a few pre-trip and post-trip classes at Carthage to enhance the Life After Carthage: Chicago experience.
