Isaac Leif ’19, a communication and digital media major, is working with the Tech Training department of CNN. He is one of two interns who collaborate on creating informational videos for incoming CNN employees about necessary software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Slack, and Photoshop, as well as industry-level software and proprietary CNN programs. With the help of the alumni office, Isaac was able to get in touch with a 2005 Carthage alum working as the head of the Tech Training department.

After an intensive interviewing process, Isaac was offered the position, and has had the opportunity to connect with the media giant. A typical day for a Tech Training intern includes editing educational videos that are later posted on the company intranet, meetings with other interns or the Tech Training team, and learning how to teach company training courses, like his 150-minute introductory editing course.

“I’ve already learned so much!,” he said. “I’ve also come to appreciate the effort that gets put into the news. I make content that informs employees who get little credit or attention from the general public. It takes a complex system for media to function on such a large scale. I’ve also learned things about myself like how I handle a 9 to 5 desk job, what activities I may be interested in, and how I network.”

Congratulations on this exciting opportunity, Isaac!
