The Writing Center will celebrate International Writing Centers Week Feb. 10-17. There will be tours, demonstrations, grammar “pop-ins,” games, workshops, prizes — and cake! Here’s the schedule for the week. (Please check us out every day!)

Monday-Friday Feb. 10-14

  • Stop by for a tour of the Writing Center, located in the upper level of Hedberg Library. We’ll help you register as a Writing Center client through WCOnline (and give you a free pencil and bookmark!).

  • If you schedule and attend a Writing Center session, you can play “Grammar Poker.” You just might win a fabulous prize! (Well, probably not so fabulous …)

  • Be prepared! Your class may be surprised sometime during the week by a “Grammar Pop-In!”

Open House — Wednesday, Feb. 12

CAKE, CAKE, CAKE!!! Did we say CAKE? All day Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Writing Center will hold an Open House, give tours, demonstrate Writer’s Help and WCOnline, and, yes, give you CAKE! Instructors, this is a great way to introduce your class to the Writing Center. Walk your students over for a piece of CAKE, and we’ll show them how the Writing Center can be of assistance to them.

Fun and Games — 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13

Stop by the Mac Lab (just across from the Writing Center) for some fun information sessions! Tutors will be available to answer student and faculty questions about the center, and will hold sessions throughout the evening on grammar topics, professional email writing, and Writer’s Help.

At 7 p.m., come and participate in the Writing Center Game Show! Maybe you’ll win a fabulous (or not so fabulous?) prize!

Oh, and there may be some leftover CAKE.

Love in the Writing Center — Friday, Feb. 14

It’s Valentines Day in the Writing Center! We LOVE our clients (and our potential clients)! Stop by to schedule a session and you’ll get a piece of chocolate (and maybe some leftover, leftover CAKE — YUM!).

See you in the Writing Center!
