Troy Durie ’18 and Jackson Bailey ’19 both have been hired as interns by the Council of Economic Advisors in Washington, D.C. Troy, an economics major, received the internship post-graduation. He worked mainly on the international trade, energy, and finance teams with, in his words “the great trade war” taking up most of his time, though he did get to work on different projects. The three main parts of the job were to gather and analyze data, conduct literature reviews, and fact check reports, memos, and presentations, some of which were produced for presidential briefings.

Jackson will be spending the fall of his senior year earning internship credits at the Council of Economic Advisors and hopefully having a positive impact on the U.S. economy. Jackson’s currently finishing up an internship for Abbott Labs in California and also traveled to Japan last year with the highly selective Kakeshi Project.

Theresa Bolog ’19, a 4.0 G.P.A. double major in accounting and economics, was awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a nonprofit corporation established by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The PCAOB oversees the audits of public companies and broker-dealers. By law, monetary penalties imposed and collected by the PCAOB must fund merit scholarships for students in accredited accounting degree programs. This year, Carthage College was invited to apply and achieved success via Theresa.

Congratulations, Theresa, Jackson, and Troy.
