The Carthage Japanese program joined the Japan Fest in Franklin, Wis., organized by Milwaukee Japanese Association (MJA), on Oct. 21. Three of our students performed at the festival as the Carthaginian Band.

MJA Japan Fest is an annual cultural exchange and charity event held at Franklin High School. The event consists of booths of Japanese food and goods, as well as stage performances. The proceeds from the festival will be donated to areas affected by natural disaster.

Danielle Doh ’21 sang “Baby Portable Rock,” Joshua Dohrmann ’21 sang “Starting Over” from Mamoru Hosoda’s film バケモノの子 (“The Boy and the Beast”), and Brian Keele ’22 played “Far Dawn” from the Japanese video game ファイアーエムブレム if 白夜行 (“Fire Emblem if”) with a flute. After finishing their great performances, each of them greeted in Japanese. Fourteen Carthage students attended the festival and cheered on the performers. We thank all the students who attended and are proud of those who performed.

The Carthage Japanese program will host a cultural festival on Thursday, Nov. 15. Everyone is welcome to attend the festival! Watch for more details coming soon. Like us on Facebook to stay updated!
