Carthage hosted a forum for candidates seeking Wisconsin’s 1st District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, Oct. 23. All three candidates on the ballot participated: Randy Bryce (Democrat), Bryan Steil (Republican), and Ken Yorgan (Independent).

The Kenosha News, The Journal Times, the Lake Geneva Regional News, and Carthage co-sponsored the forum. Moderators for the forum included Kenosha News executive editor Bob Heisse and Carthage faculty members Katherine Hilson (sociology) and Jeffrey Roberg (political science).

The Nov. 6 general election will determine the successor to House Speaker Paul Ryan, who is stepping down at the end of the term. The 1st District includes all of Kenosha and Racine counties, as well as varying portions of Walworth, Rock, Waukesha, and Milwaukee counties.
