Last week, over 800 health and physical education teachers gathered in Wisconsin Dells to engage in professional development at the WHPE convention. Carthage Exercise and Sport Science Department chair, Professor Rebekah Johnson, presented two sessions and a poster at this state conference.

EXSS students also assisted in these presentations at the conference. Jose Ramirez ’19, assisted in the presentation titled, “Fitness Lessons Infused with Student and Teacher Assessments.”

Over 60 future professionals and veteran teachers attended in this action-based physical activity session. Carthage students Ali Lund ’19 & Natalie Nuzzo ’19 assisted in a session titled, “Disc Activities for Physical Education.” In this session, 25 people volunteered to participate in the demonstrations while 20-30 people viewed and took notes. 

Prof. Johnson also presented a poster that was contributed to by Laura de Rosales ’20. The poster outlines the analytics of the edTPA Physical Education Resources website and its impact nationally.
