Professor Andrea Ng’weshemi attended the 2018 Luther Colloquy that took place at United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, Pa. from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

Considering that Christianity is growing faster in Africa than anywhere else in the world, and Lutheran churches have participated in that growth alongside a varied array of other denominations and movements, the colloquy focused on the directions that Lutheran theology, exegesis, and church life might take in Africa, and the implications of these directions for the future of Lutheranism and of Christianity itself. Prof. Ng’weshemi presented a paper titled, “Lutheran Churches in Africa: Vitality, Challenges, and Opportunities for the New Face of Lutheranism in the 21st Century.”

Prof. Ng’weshemi is Brauer Chair for Lutheran Studies and Associate Professor of Religion.
