Preventing confusion about marijuana laws

November 08, 2018

To the Carthage community:

Now that the Nov. 6 election gave voters in Kenosha County and other parts of Wisconsin a chance to share their opinions regarding marijuana laws, we would like to prevent any confusion about the status of the law.

At this time, it remains illegal to possess or distribute marijuana in Wisconsin. Although a majority of voters in certain areas expressed support for legalizing medicinal or even recreational marijuana use, these are non-binding referenda that simply advise legislators about the level of public support for a change.

Likewise, the Carthage policy has not changed. Marijuana is not allowed on campus.

Thank you,

Erin Mortensen
