A Carthage Symposium (CS), “Communication Strategies to Guide Spiritual Care of Patients at the End of Life,” has open seats remaining. Seats are no longer restricted to nursing and religion students. The course meets Tuesdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and is taught by professors Cheryl Petersen and Sandra Bisciglia.

The course will fulfill a second religion requirement or nursing elective, as well as the Carthage Symposium requirement. The class covers how to speak with people who are in the last stages of life, as well as their families, from various religious perspectives, and informs how spirituality is an essential part of palliative care for the terminally ill.
