The Carthage Symposium class for spring 2019, “Communication Strategies to Guide Spiritual Care of Patients at the End of Life,” has open seats remaining. The seats are no longer restricted to nursing and religion students—all students are welcome to enroll.

The class is once a week from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and will fulfill a second religion requirement or nursing elective, in addition to the Carthage Symposium requirement.

Students will learn how to speak with those who are in the last stages of life, as well as their families, from various religious perspectives, and informs how spirituality is an essential part of palliative care for the terminally ill. This course is taught by professors Cheryl Petersen and Sandra Bisciglia.
