For the first time in Carthage College history, a Carthage student has received the prestigious Jo Anne Trow Undergraduate Scholarship through the national organization Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD).

Ashlynn Rickord ‘15 served as last year’s President of ALD. In her position, she established a philanthropic connection with the organization Feeding America, having ALD donate both canned foods and monetary funds to the Eastern Wisconsin Bank in Milwaukee. Also in her term, she promoted awareness about poverty in America by inviting speakers to campus and hosted an educational viewing of a documentary to raise awareness about homelessness.

Carthage’s chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta was instrumental in assisting other organizations on campus in service opportunities like writing letters to alumni, participating in the Suicide Prevention Walk, volunteering for WUHRA and the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha, donating time at local humane societies, working at the Women’s Horizon Center, and many others.

Finally, from her involvement and leadership in ALD, there has been a more visible presence of the organization on campus.

We would like to congratulate Ashlynn on such a big achievement and thank her for her dedicated service to Alpha Lambda Delta and the Carthage community!
