New Perception and Cognition Studies need volunteers

Molly Polk

March 08, 2014

The Cognition and Perception Lab in the Psychological Science Department is currently running two experiments and we need your help!

Please note: If you have already participated in an olfaction experiment this year, you may not be able to participate again. Please let the researchers know if you have participated previously.

STUDY 1: Vision and Olfaction

This fun experiment will require participants to smell or examine visual stimuli and make judgments about them. This two-phase experiment requires that participants be able to come to two sessions, one on Tuesday, March 11, and one on Thursday, March 13. Rewards will be provided for compensation.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Jill Candos ( with a time that works for you. Below are the available times:

10 a.m. on Tuesday/Thursday (March 11/13)
1 p.m. on Tuesday/Thursday (March 11/13)
3 p.m. on Tuesday/Thursday (March 11/13)

Thank you for your consideration!

STUDY 2: Language and Olfaction

In this (also fun!) experiment, you will be asked to smell odors and read words and make judgments about them. To participate, you must be between 18 and 25 years of age and be currently registered as a Carthage undergraduate student.

To sign up, please go to the link below. You will notice that males and females have different designated dates. Please abide by these when you sign up. If you are unable to participate during the listed times, please contact the researchers to set up an alternative time. There will be more dates and times provided at a later date.

Please contact the researchers with any questions you may have and pick your sign update and time!

The experiment will not exceed one hour in duration. Please do not eat or drink during the hour prior to the experiment. We will confirm the testing location with you when you arrange a session. Lastly, you will receive a small gift for your participation!

Thank you for your consideration!
