Teaching Commons: Instructional Design Training Sessions this week

The Teaching Commons is hosting several instructional design workshops. Please join us in learning more about what an instructional designer can do for you.

All workshops will be held in the Teaching Commons (Hedberg 223), and will be led by Zubia Mughal, contract instructional designer.

How can an ID help you? The backward planning alignment grid: Higher-order and lower-order outcomes aligned with formal and informal assessments

In this session, the ID briefly explains the advantages of the backward planning approach to designing courses. Aligning learning outcomes with their respective learning activities and assessment items is the key to quality instructional design practice. The Teaching Commons offers effective tools and templates to make the instruction design process easier. The ID demonstrates the use of the Backward Planning Alignment Grid. This part of the session focuses on higher-order and lower-order outcomes aligned with formal and informal assessments. Hands-on session with job aid provided. Links to Schoology resources to implement alignment also provided.
