Are you looking for a Writing Intensive course for the fall semester? Consider registering for SWK 400FW: Trauma Across Social Contexts.

In this course, students will learn the latest research on the effects of trauma across the lifespan as well as its deleterious effects across generations, on organizations, and in communities.

Students will also learn about effective strategies for intervening with individuals, families, and communities impacted by the trauma of abuse, neglect, neighborhood/gun violence, war, genocide, natural disasters, and more.

This course has great relevance for students majoring in social work, psychology, nursing, healthcare specialties, education, criminal justice, sociology, neuroscience, women and gender studies, nonprofit management, and more.

The writing intensive version of this course will emphasize trauma-sensitive documentation practices and effective development of organizational proposals to build capacity for addressing trauma in professional practice settings. The course is listed as requiring junior standing, but sophomores who are interested are encouraged to contact Professor Debbie Minsky-Kelly for permission to register at dkelly1@carthage.edu.
