Deadline to submit application for Wiggan-Kinniebrew Experiential Learning Fund is TODAY
Just completing its second year, the Wiggan-Kenniebrew Black Alumni Network honors the first African-American woman and man to graduate from Carthage. This group of alumni is dedicated to providing support for current students of color, especially those of African-American descent and those who support the African-American community.
With leadership from co-chairs Hoyt H. Harper II ’77, Alan Mills ’79, and Cynthia Walker ’78, the network has been raising funds to provide funding for internships, study away, research, conferences, and other experiential learning opportunities not covered through tuition. These efforts generated over $22,000 to be awarded for the academic year 2019-20.
Students may apply now for the second round of grants from the Wiggan-Kenniebrew Experiential Learning Fund. Grants will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Equity and Inclusion Committee and managed through Carthage’s Office of Student Financial Planning. Application requirements include a brief statement explaining how you meet the eligibility criteria, a faculty or staff recommendation, details regarding the experience for which you seek funding, and an essay explaining how this experience will further your academic or career aspirations. The deadline to submit the application is Friday, Aug. 30.
