Steve Janiak promoted to Senior Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy
Dear Carthage colleagues,
It is my pleasure to announce that Steve Janiak has been promoted to Senior Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy in the Office of Marketing and Communications.
In this new role, Steve will develop and lead the College’s advertising, recruitment marketing, and design efforts to support long-term marketing and communication goals. Overseeing a team of graphic designers and photographers, he will work to ensure a consistent look, tone, and message in all Carthage marketing materials. He will focus primarily on supporting the enrollment and admissions cycle, in addition to other fundraising and revenue-generating initiatives.
Previously the Director of Creative Services, Steve has long guided the look and feel of the Carthage brand. Since coming to Carthage in 1998, he has transformed how Carthage presents itself to internal and external audiences. He was central to the successful rebranding of the College in 2014 and of Carthage Athletics in both 2006 and 2017. In recent years, he has overseen a major signage project to improve wayfaring on campus, and led the creative direction for fundraising campaigns including The Campaign for Carthage, The Tower Initiative, and 150 Years of Carthage Women. He has also taken thousands of photos of campus, Carthage events, and classrooms — many of which have been seen in The Carthaginian and marketing materials for the last 20 years.
Under Steve’s leadership, the creative services team designs and produces hundreds of projects each year including all materials for recruitment, advancement, Giving Day, Commencement, New Student Orientation, The Carthaginian magazine, and much more. The team has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for Best Viewbook, Excellence in Print Advertising, and Excellence in Brochure Design. They have received honors from the Collegiate Advertising Awards, EDU Digital Marketing Awards, Educational Advertising Awards, and CoSIDA.
Steve has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He lives in Kenosha with his wife, Marie. They have two children, Josh and Megan ’20.
Please join me in congratulating Steve and thanking him for many years of service!
