Carthage staff members got together to help feed hungry children as part of a new program called Carthage Cares. The inaugural event took place at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, Ill., a Christian non-profit that provides nutritionally complete meals specially made for malnourished children.

According to Pastor Kara Baylor, the team of nine packaged 60 boxes of food that will feed 35 children for a year.

Carthage Cares is an opportunity for faculty and staff to come together throughout the year to engage in a variety of service projects in the community and surrounding areas, and Pastor Kara encourages faculty and staff to get involved.

“Carthage Cares speaks to what is most important about who we are as an institution. We value community and service. Carthage Cares puts those two values together,” she says. “Plus it is a great way to get to know people from campus outside of your department and division.”

Faculty and staff volunteered at Feed My Starving Children for the first Carthage Cares event.
