Submit your 2020-21 FAFSA now!

Students, complete your FAFSA early, so you can be awarded sooner rather than later! Here are some important reminders:

  • 1. You don’t have to wait for your parents to complete their 2019 taxes to fill out the FAFSA. The tax information that you need to provide is from the “prior to prior” year. What this means is that for the 2020-21 year you will use 2018 tax information.
  • You can pull tax information from the IRS directly into your FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool that is embedded in the tax section of your FAFSA. This will also speed up the verification process, if you are selected. No worries, no errors!
  • Be sure to check the Finances tab of your My.Carthage portal often until your awarding is done to see if additional paperwork is needed to process your financial aid. Submit any missing documents as soon as possible so there are no delays.
  • Remember: Be proactive about your financial aid. Take stress off by learning what needs to be done and doing it. Contact our office if you have any questions — we’re here to help! Email us at finaid@carthage.edu.
