The National First-Generation College Celebration Day is Friday, Nov. 8. This day is designated to recognize the hard work and achievements of first-generation college students. A first-generation college student is defined as any student whose parents have not attained a bachelor’s level college degree.

The Center for Student Success and Division of Student Affairs want to commemorate the day by showing our appreciation for first-gen students at Carthage! We invite all first-gen students to stop by the Straz Atrium between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, for a slice of cake and a 1G sticker (the first-gen student organization). Faculty, staff, and students wanting to show their support for first-gen students are also welcome to stop by!
