H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art presents: ‘The Women of Carthage Alumni Exhibition’
H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art, Johnson Art Center
In celebration of 150 years of enrolling women students at Carthage, the H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art is proud to present a retrospective exhibition of studio art majors and minors. “The Women of Carthage Alumni Exhibition” features a broad range of work from recent graduates and long-standing alumni.
Theatre Show: Carthage’s New Play Initiative presents ‘The Handbook’
7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-9, Wartburg Theatre, David A. Straz, Jr. Center
Based on true events surrounding the controversy of former New Orleans Saints cheerleader Bailey Davis’ dismissal, “The Handbook” is an incisive account of the rampant discrimination in the world of professional cheerleading and the effects it has on the cheerleaders. Tickets are required for this event.
Friday, Nov. 8
First-Generation College Celebration Day
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Straz Atrium
This day is designated to recognize the hard work and achievements of first-generation college students. All first-gen students are invited to stop by the Straz Atrium for a slice of cake and a 1G sticker (the first-gen student organization).
Family Fun Night: ‘Around the World’
6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Hedberg Library
Family Fun Night, “Around the World,” will take place on Friday, Nov. 8 in Hedberg Library. We have invited a variety of student organizations to have a table or area to represent a country. The children are given passports to visit each of the countries.

Aly & AJ Concert
9 p.m., Todd Wehr Center, Jockey Rooms
Aly and AJ’s show at Carthage will be on Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Todd Wehr Center Jockey Club Rooms. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and Aly & AJ will perform at 9 p.m. DJ GEE-A from 103.7 KISS FM in Milwaukee will provide his skills as an opener for Aly & AJ. The show is now free to all students. All you need is your Carthage I.D. to get in.
Sunday, Nov. 10
1 p.m., A. F. Siebert Chapel
The Carthage Philharmonic performs standard orchestral repertoire. Past repertoire has included works by such composers as Bach, Beethoven, Bizet, Copland, Holst, Purcell, and more. It is a dynamic ensemble that prides itself on its commitment to growth, excellence, and camaraderie between ensemble members to create a more connected sound. The Philharmonic Concert is free and open to the public.
