Carthage understands that a college education is a significant financial investment but recognizes that it is also an investment in your future. A college education gives you more opportunities, which helps you gain important knowledge and experiences that stay with you long after graduation.
At Carthage, we want to make sure you earn your degree, so we work with you to make college affordable. More than 90 percent of our students receive financial aid, and competitive scholarships are a large part of that. Carthage awards more than $2 million in competitive scholarships each year to incoming students who demonstrate excellent leadership skills and academic strength. Some of these competitive scholarships include:
- Presidential scholarships
- Scholarships in business, mathematics, science, modern languages, fine arts, and more
- DEIL Fellows Program scholarships
- Kenosha scholarships
- Transfer scholarships to both fall and spring transfer students

The Presidential Scholarship Program offers 35 scholarships to students who have shown academic excellence and are actively involved in organizations and activities at their school, as well as in their and community.
Mackenzie Counard ’20 is a Hay Presidential Scholarship recipient. She says receiving this scholarship helped her recognize that her future goals are achievable through hard work.
“Receiving this scholarship was a great honor,” says Mackenzie. “It made me feel like everything I was working towards in my future was finally in reach. The scholarship competition judges recognized everything I had done in and out of high school, and that made me feel very proud of all the work I had done.”

Zachary Bulthuis ’23 says receiving a Business Scholarship made him realize that he is capable of more than he imagined.
“The scholarship revealed to me that I can excel academically and break through barriers I never thought I could,” Zachary says. “It allows me to engage with new things on-campus and experiment with activities I have never tried before.”

Carthage awards scholarships each year to admitted students who excel in visual and performing arts. The fine arts scholarships are awarded through competitive audition and/or portfolio reviews. Scholarships in the fine arts include art, dance, graphic design, music, and theatre as well as many others.
Hannah Midlock ’22 won a dance minor scholarship. She says receiving the scholarship made her excited to continue dance at Carthage.
“Being a dancer my whole life, this scholarship meant the world to me,” Midlock said. “My dedication and hard work had paid off. I was so excited to continue following my passion in college.”

Christian Aggari ’21 received the Japanese Modern Languages scholarship. He says the scholarship helped him become more involved on campus.
“Winning the Japanese Modern Language Scholarship is the main reason I chose Carthage,” Christian says.“I’ve become an active member of the department, joining the Japanese Club E-Board, participating in the Culture Festival, and going to tutoring regularly. It seems like fate brought me to the right place!”
