The Office of Marketing and Communications is pleased to share that two new staff members have joined our team.

Sam Payton Sam PaytonSam Payton ’19 is our new full-time photographer, here for one year. Sam graduated from Carthage in May with majors in graphic design and communications, and a minor in women’s and gender studies. While at Carthage, she worked for three years as a photography and graphic design intern in our office, so we know her talents very well, and we are thrilled to have her back.

Prior to re-joining our team, Sam served as the graphic design coordinator for the Chicago Bandits professional softball team, where she led graphic design and photography efforts for two seasons. She also worked as a creative and digital associate with All Points Public Relations, a franchise-focused agency in the northern Chicago suburbs.

“Sam brings a keen eye for capturing genuine Carthage moments, whether she is taking pictures in a classroom or on the field,” says Steve Janiak, senior director of marketing and brand strategy. “She is especially talented at sports photography, and enjoys taking portraits and campus beauty photos.”

In her spare time, Sam is a huge sports fan and loves watching her younger brother play football. She will be part of our team through October 2020.

Jackie Kenny

Jackie Kenny is our new Editorial Assistant. She oversees publication of The Bridge, manages our online calendar, and creates content for our email newsletters and other online communications.

Jackie is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where she earned a degree in English. She spent the last eight months as an intern with the Lake County, Illinois, government, where she edited monthly newsletters for 21 county board members and wrote content for Lake County’s website, newsletters, and social media.

“Jackie has an enthusiasm for editing and writing that is evident in her work,” says Traci Parker, director of content development and strategy. “Through her internship, she gained experience in a variety of areas, which will make her a versatile member of the communications team, and we are excited she has joined us.”

Jackie lives just over the border in Illinois and is a huge Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs fan. In her free time, she loves to read and is actively involved in a literary arts magazine.

Please join us in giving Sam and Jackie a warm welcome!
