Celebrate J-Term 2020 with the ART 2750 Stop Motion Animation course! You are invited to an informal screening of selected stop motion animation artworks created by students working with Assistant Professor Jojin Van Winkle. The screening will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Niemann Media Theater located in the Hedberg Library.

Stop Motion Animation

The films for the screening include the stop motion techniques of pixilation, object-based animation, paper cut-out pieces, and several time-lapse videos. The students captured their frame-by-frame photos in the Stop Motion Studio App and then edited their final films in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Students in this stop motion animation class are studying a wide variety majors at Carthage, including chemistry, physics, accounting, nursing, marketing, Chinese, management, graphic design, finance, Asian studies, and computer science. During J-Term, the class also took a trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago to see work by video artist Mika Rottenberg, who uses some special effects techniques in her work related to stop motion animation.
