You’re invited to an evening of song and ideas with President John Swallow and his wife, Cameron, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, in Trinity House.

John Wertheimer, a former colleague of President Swallow’s, has written a variety of songs based on a set of lectures with the theme “On Being Human” given at Davidson College in 2019. He will be joined by a small band of musicians to perform these songs. The lectures were given from many disciplinary points of view by his colleagues at Davidson. You will hear the human condition considered by a classicist, a biologist, an economist, and a professor of religion among others.

The evening will begin with a discussion of the song texts, followed by the performance and likely a post-performance discussion of how the music changed your sense of the themes and arguments. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

This event is limited to the first 45 students, faculty members, or staff that sign up. Please register if you would like to attend.
